Installation
Add one line of HTML to your site and start collecting pageviews.
Installation is one <script> tag. It goes in the <head> of every page you
want to track.
1. Create a site
Sign in, then choose Add site. Enter the domain exactly as visitors see it,
for example example.com. Pick the timezone you want your dashboard to use —
it controls where each day starts.
Sift opens the install page for the new site and shows the snippet.
2. Paste the snippet

That is the whole install. There is no npm package, no build step, and no consent banner.
3. Confirm it works
Open your site in a browser, then return to the install page. It polls Sift and switches to Signal detected once a pageview arrives.

What the attributes mean

defer keeps the script off the critical path. Without it the browser may wait
on the download before rendering.
Subdomains and www
Subdomains are tracked under the root site. Register example.com and pageviews
from app.example.com and docs.example.com land in the same dashboard.
www. is normalized away, so www.example.com and example.com are the same
site. You do not need to register both.
A pageview whose hostname does not match the registered domain is dropped, so a copied snippet cannot pollute someone else's stats.
Removing Sift
Delete the <script> tag. Nothing else was installed, and nothing is cached
that would keep sending events.
To wipe the data you already collected, use Reset statistics or delete the site in its settings.
